Who are We?
We are group of UConn students looking to make an impact on changing the views about voting and specifically target the stereotype of sorority women and their political input. We see how important it is to exercise our rights as Americans and additionally see how crucial it is as a college community to make those aware of how judgments on females in Greek life are false. We are here to prove to others that sororities do take politics serious and should be seen in this light. These women are just as politically invested as the rest of society and should not be depicted as otherwise.
How are We Doing This?
We have reached out to the sorority community to collect statistics on how active these women truly are when looking into politics. Going to a number of chapter meetings, we displayed our video located in the beginning of this website to introduce sorority women with some inspiring words of what the importance of being a sorority girl is and why politics are a part of this. Following this clip, our team informed these women on how to register in our local community to vote for this years president if they did not already do so. Along with the registration sheets, our team asked them to fill out a short survey on their status on if they are planning to vote. We plan to also see how many of these sorority girls physically voted as well to conclude our campaign.
In the Future...
Our team hopes that this makes an impact politically and socially on these sorority women. The goal is for them to continue to exercise their rights and take a stand when others being to stereotype being a sorority women. It only takes a simple action like this to change views and we want to be the start of this movement.
